The artistic journey of Bivenne Staiger, AWS, began and continues with generous exposure to all the arts, particularly drawing and painting, architecture, textiles, and garden design. She works mostly in watercolor, but also oil and pastel, beadwork and embroidery, scraperboard, collage, and more. Color, line, value, and shape are integral to designs she creates in all these media, and she is primarily inspired by nature-based themes. In her watercolor work, she likes to create impact through large scale imagery, bright colors, and high value contrast.

Known for her vibrant wildlife and floral paintings, Bivenne is the recipient of many prestigious awards for her work in watercolor, including the Silver Medal from American Watercolor Society’s 152nd Annual Exhibition (2019), which was also selected as part of the AWS Travel Exhibition. She's a featured artist in Watercolor Artist magazine's January/February 2020 issue, is the author of  White! Light! Bright! How to Make Your Backgrounds Support and Enhance Your Watercolor Paintings (2022, Schiffer Publishing), and writes a blog on her painting techniques. Illustrator of the children’s book I Love You as Much As… by Sarah Caratasios (2024), Bivenne offers classes, workshops, and demonstrations in watercolor throughout the southern New England region and has for decades been sharing her particular love for watercolor.

Bivenne is represented by Spectrum Art Gallery in Centerbrook, CT.
